Welcome to the internet. A lot has changed around here since 1991. We've gone from Web 1.0 to 3.0; from simple text-based pages to complex multimedia experiences. But one thing has remained the same: links.
The World Wide Web is, almost by definition, made out of links. That's what ties it all together, that makes up the web in question, spun by humans in all corners of the globe. The internet is full of wonderful things, each one a link. Whether it's a fun photo, a song you love, a draft you're working on, or your couch in the metaverse.
To say that Cool Stuff “only accepts links” is true, but reductive. Links are the fundamental building block of this virtual reality that mirrors our own. Each link comes with oodles of information – metadata, content, culture – that can be harnessed in all sorts of ways. They're getting better all the time, too, with clever folks across the planet constantly working on ways to improve them.
As our world becomes increasingly digital, links are only going to thrive – to become more plentiful, smarter, and richer in content. As long as we can continue to innovate on ways to use links, they will always be relevant. That's why Cool Stuff is focused on them: because, when you think about, just about everything is a link. And it helps keep the experience tidy and useful, too.
